Queens Park

Today we visited Queens Park in New Westminster.  We boarded the school bus at 9:00 a.m. with Ms. LaRiviere's kindergartens, Ms. Baldry's kindergartens and Ms. Bainbridge's kindergartens.  We arrived at Queens Park at about 9:30 and headed to the Arenex for gymnastics.  We had such a great time.  Look at all the fun we had...
Waiting their turn for the trampoline
 The Rings
 The Bars
One daring little monkey almost reach the ceiling on the ropes.
 Bouncing...
 Rings - hanging upside down!
After gymnastics we washed our hands and headed outside for our snacks.  Then we had some time on the playground and finally visited the petting zoo.  We saw goats, pigs, ducks, more goats, chickens, a calf, bunnies, a peacock, and baby chicks.
After the petting zoo we washed our hands again, and then boarded the bus to head back to school.  What a fun day!

Butterfly Release

Today was the day we released our butterflies.  We would have liked to wait a little longer, but the weather was so nice today and is supposed to rain the rest of the week.  Just before lunch we headed outside with Ms. Baldry's class and release our 9 butterflies into the wild.
 Ready to be released...

The Butterfly Life Cycle

Back in May we made caterpillars to display in the classroom...
After a while the caterpillars made a chrysalis ...
We counted the days the caterpillars were in their chrysalis and after 8 days some of them turned into butterflies...
Just like the live butterflies in our classroom, not everyone has metamorphosized yet.  But maybe by next week!

Year End Countdown!

Today we started our countdown to the end of the year.  We started with 16 Angry Birds and pigs (each with a piece of paper inside with something fun to do each day).  We will pop one balloon each day.
Today our activity was to write our name as many times as we could in one minute.  Here we are working quickly.

Caterpillar Song

Check out the class book we made - Caterpillar Song!  We worked in pairs to create the illustrations.

Swing Dance

Every Friday we spend time with our grade 7 big buddies.  Our big buddies have been learning to swing dance and today they taught us some of their moves.  It was honestly one of the cutest things I've seen. Here are a couple of shots, although they don't capture the dance too well.
