It has been a busy and exciting last week of school. We had snow, a field trip, more snow, a power outage, a Christmas sing-a-long, and even a birthday! I'd like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season and all the best in the new year. I will see you all back at school on Monday, January 7, 2013.
Welcome to Mrs. Morrison's Grade One Class! This is a place for us to share what we are doing in our class and a place for parents to provide positive feedback.

Christmas Sing-A-Long
After the power outage yesterday cancelled our Christmas Sing-A-Long we were able to reschedule it for today. The Grade Ones sang Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get many photos during singing but we took a photo afterward with our Santa hats on. We also sang the 12 Days of Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Deck the Halls and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

Snow!
Today was a very exciting day for us. Yesterday it had snowed and last night it snowed even more. There was a lot of snow to play in at school today. After recess we decided instead of going to gym we would play outside. Here are some photos of us playing in the snow.

The day got even more exciting when the power went out during lunch. Unfortunately the power outage cancelled our Christmas Sing-A-Long and Band Performance. The Sing-A-Long has been rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon. It was a very exciting day!

LOST!
We came to school this morning to find that Candy and Gingerbread Santa had ran away. We were very upset to find a note from them. They had written underneath Mrs. Morrison's morning message.
We got busy making LOST & MISSING posters.
Once we all finished our posters we took a walk around the school to hang them up, we also talked to Ms. Janssen, our LST teacher, and our secretary. Unfortunately, they had not seen them.
If you see Gingerbread Santa or Candy please let us know!

Gingerbread Santa and Candy Are Safe!
We were all so excited to find Gingerbread Santa and Candy safe and hiding in our classroom. After they ran away from two different schools we were happy to find them in our room.
Candy was found in the morning hiding by the Toy Shop!
Gingerbread Santa was hiding with the pointer sticks!
One of our classmates suggested right away that we shut our hallway door to be extra safe. We were worried they may try to run out if we weren't looking.
We held on tight to them during calendar.
We took them to the library with us and made sure they didn't try to escape.
While we were working some people thought it would be safe if we put them inside the desk so they couldn't jump off.
Gingerbread Santa helped with our phonics work.

They came with us during Run Across Canada.
At the end of the day we had to decide were would be the best place for Gingerbread Santa and Candy to be kept over the weekend. It was decided that we lock them in the iPad cart. There are holes in the cart so they will get air and it is locked so they can not get out. We gave them some fruit snacks to eat.

They're at it again!
The gingerbread Santa and gingerbread girl have escaped from Mrs. Fadum's class. We don't know where they might be... but we are sure that they need to be caught. A few people even wrote about it in their journals today.
(I was chasing a gingerbread man.)
