Attention Parents!

The November Newsletter has been uploaded to the Monthly Newsletters Tab.

Halloween Howl

Today we took part in our school's annual Halloween Howl.  After recess we joined Mrs. Warren's grade 3s, Mrs. Atkinson's grade 1s and Mrs. LaRiviere's kindergartens in the gym where we participated in 7 different halloween relays.  Everyone loved the last one; we got to turn off the lights and then carry a giant glow in the dark spider to a glow in the dark web.  After lunch, we changed into our costumes and went to the gym for a costume parade.  After the parade, we danced to Looking for Dracula, the Macarena, the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance.  Finally, we had a little party in our classroom to celebrate before going home.

Halloween Activities

We'd like to share some of the halloween and fall activities we've been doing.  We made some wonderful fall similes.  We also created some pumpkins which Mrs. Morrison used to see if we could listen to and follow directions.  Today we made halloween sticker art.  We chose a halloween sticker with our eyes closed and then had to create a background for.

Internet Safety

Today we spent some time learning about Internet Safety.  Check out this great link to Online Safety with Professor Garfield  You can watch the short video, then decide what is SURF SMART or YAPPY (information you should NOT give out on the internet) and finally apply what you've learned.

Q-tip Painting

Today we worked on a fall art project.   We painted fall trees with red, yellow, orange and brown leaves.  The interesting thing was that we used q-tips to paint.  Check it out...

Happy Thanksgiving

On Friday, we took part in our schools annual Primary Sharing Feast.  All of the students in kindergarten through grade 3 gathered in the gym shortly before lunch.  Each class shared a poem or song and then we all did the "Turkey Pokey."  Finally we sang Raffi's "Thanks A Lot" before eating our lunch together in the gym.  Here is a short video.

Our poem was "Turkey Dinner"

Turkey dinner, turkey dinner,
Gather round, gather round.
Who will get the drumstick?
Yummy, yummy drumstick.
All sit down, all sit down.
Cornbread muffins, chestnut stuffing.
Pudding pie one foot high.
All of us were thinner,
Until we came to dinner.
Me oh my! Me oh my!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

AB Patterns

In math we've been working on patterning.  We've made patterns with snap cubes and pattern blocks, on paper, and with sounds and actions.   I must say we are all very good at creating patterns and explaining them.  Today we focused on creating only AB patterns.  Here is some of our work.
 Using Snap Cubes
 On Paper
 Using Pattern Blocks
These two created an AB pattern that they could fit inside.
A black and white pattern in the shape of an E.
