Valentines Day!

Today was a fun-filled (and sugar-filled) Valentines Day!  We started our day with Community Read as we always do on Thursdays (and Tuesdays).  After the parents and siblings left we carried on with our morning routine and listened to a valentines stories called "Who Will Be My Valentine This Year?" We handed out our valentines.  Then we were served a wonderful pancake breakfast by the lovely PAC moms at our school.  After we ate our pancakes we looked at our valentines.  We carried on with our day and did some great valentines math and writing.  In the afternoon we had a lovely party with cupcakes, cookies, cake pops, strawberries, juice boxes and chocolate covered pretzels.  It was an awesome day and I was a very lucky teacher to be spoiled with so many valentines today!
Our beautiful valentines pouches before they were filled and bursting at the seams.
What do you like more hugs or kisses?
After graphing our results, we did an art/writing project about why we like getting hugs or kisses from our families.
The final project!
"I like kisses because I was sad and kisses (made me) happy!"
"I love kisses because it makes me feel safe."
"I like kisses because when I hug my sister she pulls my hair."
"I like hugs because they make me so happy."
"I like hugs from my family because they make me feel happy."
"I like both because kisses make me happy and hugs make me feel nice."
"I like hugs because kisses are gross."
Our class all in pink, red and white for Valentines Day!
