Mrs. Morrison divided up our box of Lucky Charms into ziploc bags for us and we each got one. Our FIRST task was to sort the marshmallow shapes from the cereal. (We did not need the cereal pieces.) THEN we had to sort the marshmallow shapes; pots of gold, clovers, horseshoes, rainbows, stars, moons, hearts and balloons. AFTER sorting our shapes we needed to count and tally them on a sheet Mrs. Morrison gave us.
AFTER everyone had counted and tallied their shapes, we came together as a class to make a class tally.
We found that moons were the were the most popular shape. After some discussion we decided that maybe this was because moons are very common and everyone sees them or because the swirl moon shapes where the *NEW* shape that was advertised on the outside of the box. Mrs. Morrison submitted our results and so far there are 1125 students that have participated in the project and 25,660 shapes that have been sorted, counted and tallied. Moons are the most popular so far. The project doesn't close until March 19, so we'll post the final results of the project after that.
